CRITICAL

Battery / Charging System Warning

Can I keep driving?NOT NORMALLY

Pull over somewhere safe as soon as practicable and switch off unnecessary electrical equipment.

What does it mean?

The vehicle's 12-volt electrical charging system may not be charging correctly. The vehicle may continue running using the energy remaining in the battery, but electrical systems can eventually fail and the vehicle may stop.

What should I do?

  1. Pull over somewhere safe as soon as practicable.
  2. Switch off unnecessary electrical equipment, such as heated screens, climate control and entertainment systems.
  3. Check the vehicle display for any additional warning messages.
  4. Follow the manufacturer's instructions in the owner's manual.
  5. If the warning remains illuminated, seek breakdown assistance or professional inspection rather than continuing a journey.
  6. If other red warnings appear, steering becomes unusually heavy, the engine temperature rises, or the vehicle begins losing electrical functions, stop safely and do not continue.

Possible causes

  • Alternator fault
  • Drive-belt or pulley problem
  • Charging-system wiring or connection fault
  • Battery connection problem
  • Electrical-system fault
  • 12-volt battery fault
